A true holiday paradise with an almost deserted, sandy beach, in front of seemingly endless rows of palm trees, away from mass tourism in South India in the state of Kerala. This is how the Malabar coast has been for ages, and so it has been left here until today. The two sister resorts of the SOMATHEERAM AYURVEDA GROUP are only 10 minutes away from each other and together have about 100 cottages Pools and restaurants can be used by the guests of both facilities.

SOMA MANALTHEERAM is located on a small hill, almost directly on the wide white sandy beach. SOMATHEERAM is located above the coast, on the palm-covered slope with tropical flowers and plants. Fantastic views of the sea, the sun loungers and hammocks distributed in the palm grove ensure you optimal rest.

Both resorts offer Ayurveda at its finest and are places of meditative calm and contemplative muse.

ACCOMMODATION

Traditional, simple cottages and Kerala houses welcome you to the warm and relaxing atmosphere of these Ayurveda Centers.
The following types of accommodation are available in SOMA MANALTHEERAM:

STANDARD ROOM

Generally there are 3 or 4 rooms in a cluster or a bungalow that are rented separately. The rooms are well ventilated and have a large ceiling fan. From these rooms there is no direct view of the sea, but “only” in the exotic garden.

GARDEN COTTAGE

Simply furnished bungalows in round design with garden view. The room is furnished with a double bed, mosquito net, ceiling fan, telephone, desk and chairs; adjoining this is the bathroom with shower, WC; the terrace offers seating.
The cottages are built with local building materials and traditional construction. As a result, they are reasonably ventilated and you do not need air conditioning.

SPECIAL COTTAGE

The special cottages have the same facilities as the garden cottages. But they are a the first two rows of cottages and thus offer a beutifull sea view *. In addition, there is an in-room safe and hair dryer in the bathroom. These cottages can be booked with air conditioning for a surcharge.

KERALAHAUS STANDARD (non air conditioned)

These single-bungalows, built in a round shape, located on the hillside, a little quieter, away from the main complex and offer more privacy.
The Kerala houses are bigger and have better facilities than the normal cottages.
The bathrooms and terraces are also larger. This category can be booked as (DELUXE) ie. With air condition and as (STANDARD) non air conditioned.

KERALA WOODEN HOUSE DELUXE

In addition to the round bungalows, there is also a traditional Kerala wooden house in both resorts. These are built in traditional style and comfortably furnished with antique doors and furniture. The deluxe en suite rooms are rented separately. Due to the common living room this house is also suitable for families or friends!

In the SOMATHEERAM BEACH RESORT, the Kerala wooden house has 2 deluxe rooms, which can be separately booked, as well as an air-conditioned Deluxe SUITE with living room, bedroom and bathroom. The veranda offers a beautiful sea view *, as the Kerala wooden house is located in front of the other cottages.

* The ocean view can sometimes be bit limited due to the lush palm vegetation, as everywhere in Kerala.

THERAPY CENTER

Both resorts are led by the former ayurvedic director of the Kerala state government institute and each resort has 30 treatment rooms. In Soma Manaltheeram there are 10 doctors and 70 therapists who take care of your health, in Somatheeram there are about 12 doctors and 80 therapists. Each doctor has a different specialisation

In order to be able to put together a customized treatment and nutrition plan, your health problems and your expectations of the spa are analysed using a questionnaire ( English) and an in-depth examination is carried out.
On request, a language speaking translator will assist you. ( subject to availability)

The effectiveness of the treatment is evaluated daily by the doctors and the treatments may be changed accordingly. The daily treatment duration is at least 2 hours (!).
If you prefer certain timmings for your treatments, you can specify this at the time of booking. You have the choice at: 7 – 9 am / 09:30 – 11:30 am / 12 – 14 pm / 14:30 – 16:30 pm / 17 – 19 pm

Since strict hygiene regulations apply here, there are disposable underwear and slippers for the spa guests for the treatments. You will also receive fresh cotton kimonos daily.

REJUVENATION THERAPY: For the rejuvenation of mind, body and soul; to improve the skin, strengthen all body systems. To achieve ideal health and to slow down the aging process, this treatment is recommended. At least 120 min. Duration of treatment daily!

BODY CLEANSING – BODY PURIFICATION THERAPY: 
This therapy supports the organism in its natural excretion of toxins and cleanses the whole body so that it comes back into balance of Vatha, Pitha, Kapha.

WEIGHT REDUCTION – SLIMMING PROGRAMS:
 Appetite irregularities, surges, diabetes, metabolic disorders and many other reasons lead to being overweight. The special programs include strict low fat food, dry massages with herbal powders and pastes, synchronized massages with specific oils and steam baths to mobilize the fat.

BODY IMMUNIZATION – BODY IMMUNIZATION THERAPY:

The food is marked as per the dosha and thanks to the nutrition advice of the doctors you can customize your food exactly to your constitution type.
 Accompanying guests can eat a la carte.
 All-day ayurvedic herbal tea is provided free of charge.

ENTERTAINMENT & EXCURSIONS

Wide sandy beach invite you to a long walk or a nice swim. Swimming is possible all year round, however, at monsoon time, swimming is not advised due to rough sea. Guests of both resorts can use the pools in both facilities.
 Beach chairs, umbrellas, hammocks and sun decks are provided in the resorts and at the cottages. Cultural events in the evening give you an impression of the culture of Kerala.
 There are also regular lectures and cooking demonstrations on ayurveda and a healthy lifestyle during the season. Staff at the reception can assist with arranging excursions in the surrounding area or with a houseboat.

LOCATION

The two resorts are located in southern India, in the state of Kerala, on the Arabian Sea. The 15km drive from Trivandrum Airport takes only about 30 minutes. The lively beach of Kovalam is about 9 km south.
